You may be aware of a few diffrent rating systems currenly out there. USA Pickleball (UTR-P) is the required rating for sanctioned tournaments. There is also DUPR, which is “dubbed” the most accuate rating, which is based on a special algorithm, including matches played against opponents of various tournaments to include both Sanctioned or Unsanctioned Tournaments

Skill assesments can be found under USA Pickleball to give you an Idea of the required skills needed to possess a certain skill level. IPTPA also offers their own skill assessment. It is important to understand the subjectiveness to each individual as consistency is the KEY to each level

What is this "Erne" (pronounced: Ern- ie) shot I keep hearing about?Well, an Erne is an advanced shot in pickleball named after Erne Perry, who first brought the shot into mainstream competitive play.
Hitting Around The Post (ATP)
Did you say you can hit "around the post"? YES! A perfectly placed shot that goes around the post and not directly over the net is legal. In pickleball, the ball does not need to go directly over the net to the other side to be a legal shot. As long as the ball remains in play and is hit to your opponent's side of the court, and lands in, that shot is good!
